Nigerian Senate slams South African crime
- M&G Online
There’s a joke in here somewhere… Something along the lines of:
“You know you have a serious crime problem when…”
“Nigeria issues a warning against travelling to your country!!”
“Ha Ha Ha!”
Sad, but true

I subscribe to the News24 Breaking News email alert, and I just received the most useless email alert I have ever received in my life!
The email read:
Parreira resigns
South African soccer coach Carlos Alberta Parreira has officially resigned.
Click here to read the full report on News24
I naturally clicked on the link to get the whole story which read as follows:
“Johannesburg - South African soccer coach Carlos Alberta Parreira has resigned, AP has reported.”
That’s it! The “story” had the same content as the email! There was absolutely no point in me clicking through to see the “full report” on the site!
Surely, News24 should’ve gone to a bit more effort with this poor excuse for an article before they mailed it to 1000’s of newsletter subscribers?!?

I had an earth shattering, digital revelation today which led to a second earth shattering, digital revelation!
The first has the potential to improve a friend’s digital business and the other has the potential to greatly improve my present and future business endeavours on the Internet.
It got me quite giddy with excitement such as I haven’t been excited about something in a long time! (Which is of itself a fantastic thing!)
Unfortunately, sharing the details of this digital revelation with you, my reader, was not part of the revelation…
Sorry

SA writes off R926,8m owed by Cuba
- Mail & Guardian Online
“Cuba’s debt position had the potential to undermine bilateral economic relations”
Now this is a situation where you really have to ask yourself, do we want to have “bilateral economic relations” with a country that owes us almost R1 billion and is unable to pay it?? Surely this points to them not being very good with their “economic relations” in the first place? What makes Maseko think that the future for Cuba holds anything different?
If South Africa were a bank and Cuba, a customer of that bank, right now, Cuba would be having its credit rating smeared, its car towed away and its house repossessed! And the bank would be sure to never do business with that customer again!
Why should South Africa act any differently?

I’ve decided that there’s no point in cementing your driveway all the way to the curb…
What you should rather do is have a nice driveway (cement or otherwise) up until about 4 meters from the curb and then use either bricks or those cement-grass things the rest of the way.
I say this, as right now, the City Council’s appointed contractors are ripping my driveway to shreds with an industrial digger to lay new piping for something!
Aside: I hope it’s a new water main as our water pressure is really atrocious here!
This is the second time this has happened in recent years, where previously, it was Telkom doing the ripping and they did a piss-poor job of repairing the driveway afterwards, which no doubt will happen again
Taking this into consideration, I think bricks (or those cement-grass things) which can be lifted and relaid (not to mention being less expensive), would be a much better option and save us all time, hassle and unnecessary expense.
